Tasting Panel Success
Most restaurants will agree, there is not a more exciting time than the run up to a new menu launch! From researching ingredients and recipes, to choosing crockery, and most importantly, hearing customer thoughts on what you are offering!
At the heart of Graze Inn’s ethos is our customers. We are so thankful to all the customers we have had walk through our doors over the last 6 years, and fully appreciate, that without your loyalty, we wouldn’t be the proud establishment we are today.
With this in mind, we decided to make our customers focal point of our new menu launch. A combination of our Inn Card Holders and Facebook fans were selected to join us last night at our sister restaurant, The Cricket Inn, to sample some of the key dishes we are looking to include on our new menu, to ensure we were meeting the needs and excelling the expectations of our customers.
After enjoying a quick drink in the bar and a little introduction to all involved, we took our seats and the evening commenced. Each member of our tasting panel received their own personal pack including a copy of the new menu, a scoring sheet and some info on the new changes we were looking to make. One by one, dishes began to make their way out of the kitchen, courtesy of our Executive Chef, Oli, and everyone started to dig in.
Being the first event of its kind that we’d held here at Graze, we were not too sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised with the input, discussions and recommendations we received. Customer interaction and a high level of service is mandatory to us and we will always strive to get to know our customers on a daily basis. To be able to sit amongst our customers in a small focus group and discuss, in great length, their thoughts and feedback was a really humbling experience, and we would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended!
The event ran for approximately 3 hours, giving a great opportunity for as many dishes as possible to be seen, tasted and rated. Many of those involved were meeting for the first time, meeting as strangers and leaving as friends. The shared passion of great food and good company allowed for everybody to get involved and converse with each other before scoring each dish out of 10 based on the presentation, the taste, the portion size, and overall thoughts on the dishes.
At the end of the evening, as our guests departed, with full tummies and an excitement to come back and try the menu with friends and families, our team gathered and began to review the comments, the scores and reflect on what a success the night had been.
